Boris Johnson reports live: Fresh Partygate fines “issued” when prime minister warns no-confidence vote ‘inevitable’

Boris Johnson claims that people are more interested in the trade agreement with India than in Partygate

At least two Downing Street employees have been fined for participating in the ‘Bring Your Own Booze’ event on May 20, 2020, according to The Independent.

This is the second event attended by Boris Johnson, which has been cheerfully alerted to tight sanctions.

It comes when high conservatives warned the prime minister that a vote of no confidence was now inevitable due to the Partygate scandal, with one warning that the mood had “turned against him.”

Conservative peer Lord Hayward, the party’s influential opinion poll expert, predicted the vote in a matter of months, and former Secretary of Defense Tobias Ellwood said the vote on Boris Johnson’s future was a “when not when” question.

Poll Guru Sir John Curtice says Partygate will be a big problem for the Tories in the May local elections after MPs voted for the Privileges Committee to investigate whether the prime minister misled parliament.
